How to Plan a CSR Kit-Building Event Your Team Will Still Talk About Next Year
Planning a kit-building event sounds simple until you are three weeks out and someone asks who is delivering the kits. The difference between a smooth event and a stressful one comes down to two decisions made early: who owns logistics, and what happens to the kits after.
Start with the cause. Pick something concrete and local. A team that builds senior nutrition kits for a neighborhood they drive through every day will feel it differently than one assembling generic care packages for an unnamed recipient. "Neighbors" is the right word. When people can picture who receives the kit, participation goes up and the event gets talked about.
On logistics, the mistake most companies make is splitting responsibilities across internal teams. One person sources materials, another handles venue, a third coordinates nonprofit pickup, and nobody has the full picture. The cleanest events run off a single vendor relationship. One call, one point of contact, one invoice. If your vendor cannot tell you exactly where the kits are going and when they will arrive, find a different vendor.
